Royal Holloway's Department of Geography is well-established as a leading UK centre in its discipline, with a national and international reputation for research of the highest quality. The 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) again placed the Department in the top tier of Geography departments. Our research environment was singled out as overwhelmingly ‘world class’ and ‘internationally excellent’ and reflects our commitment to facilitate research of the highest quality.
Our undergraduate BSc and BA degrees are ranked in first and fourth place respectively within the 2008 National Student Satisfaction Survey, a unique achievement reflecting the high standard of courses in both human and physical geography.
The Department offers a number of well-established undergraduate degree courses, including a variety of overseas fieldcourses. We have one of the UK's largest graduate schools in geography, currently with about 130 postgraduates, of which about 80 are PhD students. And there are many opportunities for funded research at doctoral and post-doctoral levels.
